Stuart Scott, a longtime anchor at ESPN, has died at the age of 49 following a long battle with cancer.

The North Carolina native arrived in Bristol, Connecticut in 1993 for the launch of ESPN2. He quickly rose to prominence as one of the Sports Leader's top personalities.

Known for catch phrases like "Boo-Yah!" and "cool as the other side of the pillow" to "he must be the bus driver cuz he takin' them to the school", Scott's contributions to the sports lexicon will live on.

In 2007, Stuart was forced to have an emergency appendectomy and it was then that doctors discovered a tumor. He subsequently underwent two surgeries and months of chemotherapy while believing he had beat the cancer.

However, four years later, in 2011, the cancer returned. He faced it again and then it returned again in January 2013.

He fought bravely for the last two years, but ultimately he succumbed this Sunday morning.

Stuart Scott leaves behind two daughters who were the apples of his eye -- 15-year-old Sydni and 19-year-old Taelor.
