In North Louisiana, a 10-month-old baby girl is currently in the hospital after being trapped for three days underneath her father's dead, decomposing body.

Sabine Parish Deputy Coroner Ron Rivers told The Shreveport Times the girl is being treated for dehydration, as well as a blistering skin condition.

The girl's 5-year-old brother eventually went to a neighbor's house and told them he thought his dad was dead, which is what lead to the grisly discovery.

"The infant, Betty Jean Fields, was dehydrated and suffering from blistering skin. She also had a noticeably dark indentation on the right side of her forehead from being wedged against the wall and under the body of her father, Jason Fields, 43, according to Rivers."

The coroner indicated he found the deceased on a bed. The body had been decomposing for several days, and the lack of air conditioning with only box fans for cooling contributed to the process.

The evidence suggests he was sitting on his bed using his computer, then fell backwards as he died, pinning the child against the wall. It was three days later that the 5-year-old in the house visited neighbors next door to inform them of what was going on in the house.

Fields had a history of cardiac issues, and due to the advanced level of decomposition of the body, no autopsy will be performed, as no signs of trauma were apparent.

No word on how the 5-year-old is faring after the incident, but is physically in good health. Since Rivers did not interview the boy, there's no word on how he dealt with the situation over those three days before visiting the neighbor's house.
