To have a celebrity endorse a political candidate is nothing new. But this in the case of Louisiana congressional candidate Zach Dasher it's more than a celebrity endorsement, it's a family affair.

A new round of political advertisements have hit the air in support of Dasher featuring Phil and Kay Robertson of TV's Duck Dynasty. Dasher just happens to be the Robertson's nephew too.

Joshua Stockley, a political science professor at the University of Louisiana at Monroe says it's a political strategy that has it's benefits.

"So having a known label endorse an unknown label, you're trying to generate recognition of that unknown label,He's trying to generate the name Zach Dasher."

Stockley's comments were reported by the Louisiana Radio Network.

What makes this even more interesting is that many believe it was an endorsement by Phil Robertson that was a springboard to getting incumbent congressman Vance McAllister elected during the last election. McAllister has since fallen out of favor with the Robertson's position on family values because of a personal indiscretion that was captured on surveillance video.

Will the Dasher campaign get the Duck Dynasty bump? That remains to be seen as Dasher is currently trying to create a name for himself among voters of Louisiana's 5th congressional district
