The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns baseball team was coming in to the Wally Pontiff Jr. Classic looking to sweep LSU in the regular season after winning the first meeting 4-3 in extra innings. The Cajuns would be able to accomplish that goal as the defeated LSU 3-1.

The Cajuns got off to a hot start as they lead off the first with a single, hit by pitch, an RBI double and a wild pitch that gave the Cajuns an early 2-0 lead after the top of the 1st. The Cajuns would go in order in the 2nd and LSU would threaten in the 1st inning with a runner at 2nd base but they would strikeout to end the inning. The Tigers would run into a double play in the 2nd.

The Cajuns would add another run in the 3rd after Gavin Bourgeios who would later score to increase the Cajuns lead. The Cajuns threatened to get more runs as they had runners at 2nd and 3rd but they grounded out to end the top of the 3rd. LSU would threaten in the 3rd but Hogan Harris would strikeout the next batter to end the 3rd.

The Tigers would get a run after an interesting sequence of events. The Tigers would get a single and then a double but the runner that was at first would get thrown out at home to give the Tigers 2 outs. The Tigers would get the run on an error from Hogan Harris as he threw the ball into right field trying to get the last out of the inning.

Hogan Harris would leave the game after 4 innings as Austin Perrin would replace him in the top of the 5th. Harris' final line would be 4 innings pitched, 1 unearned run, 1 walk and 5 strikeouts. The rest of the game would become a pitcher's duel between the two bullpens as no more runs would score despite the Tigers having at least 1 runner in each inning the entire game.

The Cajuns will look to continue their road swing as they travel to Jonesboro tomorrow to play Arkansas State Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. They will then have Easter Sunday off before traveling to Hattiesburg to face off against Southern Miss for 2 midweek games. The Cajuns will finally return home to play UTA starting April 6th for a SBC weekend series.
