The action at Acadiana's racetrack is always fast and furious but when you raise the stakes even more, it brings out the legends. Evangeline Downs has announced this Saturday will feature their annual Legends Night. This one night of racing will feature purses totaling over 800-thousand dollars and spotlight some of the finest Louisiana bred thoroughbred horses in training.

The $100,000.00 Classic will feature a small but explosive field going a mile and 1/16th on the main track at Evangeline Downs. The odds on favorite for The Classic is Sunbean. Sunbean is a winner of four consecutive La. Bred Stakes races and in his last outing  finished 3rd in the Grade 2 New Orleans Handicap at the Fairgrounds. The early morning line on Sunbean is 1-2 in the 5 horse field. The approximate post time for The Classic is 10:10pm on Saturday Night.

The $100,000.00 Louisiana Legends Sprint is expected to have a post time of 9:16 on Saturday and will feature a 12 horse field going 5-1/2 furlongs. The morning line favorite for the Sprint is Heitai a son of Kentucky Derby winner Fusaichi Pegasus.

The Louisiana Legends program will also feature 5 other races with purses of $100,000.00. Those include The Turf, The Distaff, The Cheval, The Mademoiselle and The Soiree. First post for Saturday Night's racing card is 5:40pm.
