One of Louisiana's musical legends has died.

Hall of Fame drummer Paul Ferrara died early this morning after his battle with cancer.

Ferrara's son-in-law Scott Brazda says the music legend battled lung cancer for a year.

During a six-decade career Ferrara played for and with some of the greats in the music industry like Al Hirt, Frank Sinatra and Louis Prima.

He was a regular performer in Las Vegas in the 50's, 60's and 70's.

Brazda says,

"He is only one of two side-men to be elected to the Louisiana Musicians Hall of Fame."

Ferrara was 76.
