Louisiana Ragin’ Cajun Basketball Schedule Set For 2017-2018

Louisiana's Ragin' Cajun basketball schedule was released today, making all the 2017-18 showdowns on the hardwood official.

While the 18 game conference schedule was released three weeks ago, the 13 non-conference games were announced today, with early trips to Oxford and the Cayman Islands on tap.

Louisiana hosts Millsaps in an exhibition on November 2nd, but the first official game that counts in the standings in part of a basketball/football trip to Ole Miss.

Bob Marlin and the Cajuns open the season at Ole Miss on Friday, November 10th, while Mark Hudspeth and the Cajun football team play the Rebels the following day.

“Playing at the Pavilion in Oxford to open the regular season will be part of a nice weekend for our fans as we play Ole Miss in football the following day,” Marlin said in a press release. “The Cayman Islands Classic should be a fantastic tournament and we’re excited to be a part of inaugural event with a great field.”

The Cajuns return home from Oxford for home games against Louisiana College and Savannah State before embarking for the Cayman Islands Classic from November 20th-22nd, where the Cajuns play Iowa, then either Wyoming or South Dakota State, and one more game against a team TBD.

Other non-conference road games include Nicholls State, Clemson and Louisiana Tech, while the home schedule consists of McNeese State, Loyola University of New Orleans, Southeastern Louisiana and UNO.

“It’s certainly a challenging schedule playing teams from the SEC, ACC and Big 10 as well as several in-state teams,” added Marlin. “It’s a very competitive schedule that will help season us as we get into Sun Belt Conference play in late December."
