The nominations were announced this morning for the 86th annual Academy Awards, and Louisiana is well represented! First off, the hostess this year is proud New Orleanian Ellen DeGeneres, and Best Actor nominee Jared Leto  is a Bossier City native. Several of the nominated films were shot here in Louisiana, including 'Twelve Years a Slave' and 'Dallas Buyers Club', which is probably one of the reasons that we are now being called 'Hollywood of the South'! There are other Louisiana connections in several different categories, including Best Documentary '20 Feet From Stardom", which tells the story of the music world's wonderful, but largely unheralded backup singers. One of the women featured in the film is New Orleans native Merry Clayton. Check out the entire list of nominees here. We are proud to be represented at the Academy Awards, which will be telecast live on ABC on March 2!
