(St. Martinville, La) - Once again this year, the Louisiana Sheriffs’ Scholarship Program will award scholarships providing assistance to worthy St. Martin Parish students in furthering their education and training with resources made available through the Louisiana Sheriffs’ Honorary Membership Program.

One scholarship in the amount of $500.00 will be awarded to a graduating high school senior from St. Martin Parish. There are no restrictions on the purpose for which the scholarship is spent. The scholarship is not a loan and will be awarded as a gift to defray the rising cost of tuition and related expenses in higher education. The only limitations are that the applicants must be permanent residents of Louisiana; that scholarships be utilized in higher education within the State of Louisiana, and that students be enrolled as full time, undergraduate students. Applicants must be eligible for admission to the school
they indicate on their application. The award will only be paid for attendance at institutions of higher learning within the State of Louisiana. All scholarship winners will be announced in May.

Applications are available through the school counselors, at the Public Safety Complex located at 4870 N. Main Hwy., St. Martinville, LA (between Breaux Bridge and Parks) and at the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office, 400 St. Martin Street, St. Martinville, LA.

Completed applications must be submitted to Major Ginny Higgins at the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office no later than April 1, 2015. The mailing address is P.O.
