Big money candidates like those running for the United States Senate have been fouling the air with the stench of their venomous advertisements for weeks. Now the local boys and girls have a chance to rake the muck a little.

It's the final week of campaigning before the November 4th election and at least one political analyst says you should see a change in the tone of the message that is being delivered.

"You don't want to finish a campaign in the negative, so you'll see campaigns sort of shift towards the end.  You won't see the national ads, they'll still be attacking Cassidy and Landrieu."

That's the opinion of political pundit Bernie Pinsonat who made those comments to the Louisiana Radio Network.

Mr. Pinsonat is suggesting that the negative ads generated directly by each candidate's committee will now take a turn toward the positive. In other words, candidates will tell you why you should vote for them instead of why you shouldn't vote for the other candidate.  I am willing to bet you'll see advertisements featuring the family, the dog, slow motion walks down tree-lined vistas, the shaking of hands with a diverse group of citizens, and maybe even somebody dressed in camouflage.

What's really sad about the upcoming election is this fact: The Secretary of State's office is projecting a 45% voter turnout. That means over half of the citizens of Louisiana will simply let someone else decide who makes the decisions about government.

Do you really want someone else making decisions about your money, your schools, your roads, your future, your taxes, your jobs, and your life?  I find that hard to believe, but unfortunately we will all get to believe it come November 4th when the final voter tallies are in.
