Vance McAllister has certainly been in the news a lot for someone who's time in the public eye has been very short. He first got noticed when he received an endorsement in his run for Congress from the Duck Dynasty folks. He parlayed that endorsement into a surprising victory in the 5th District Congressional race.

Then came the surveillance video that showed the congressman in a rather uncompromising  position with a woman who was not his wife. This was a big deal because part of McAllister's platform was strong family values. Then came the public and private apologies. Then came the announcement that McAllister would not seek re-election in order to spend more time with his family.

Guess what's going on now? McAllister now lists  his chances at running for his congressional seat at 50-50. Actually those numbers may have just been moved a little more toward the positive side,

"Before all the calls started coming this week, it was probably 50-50, I would have say that's it's probably tilting more towards 55-45 now."

McAllister's comments from a radio program were reported by the Louisiana Radio Network last week. On that program he told host Jim Engster that he does plan to qualify for the November election. McAllister says he has been bolstered by phone calls of support including a call that came from Louisiana Senator David Vitter. Vitter as you may recall, was involved in a sex scandal of his own a few years ago.
