A new study released yesterday by taxfoundation.org shows Louisiana has the 3rd highest state and local taxes in the entire country. Tennessee has the highest average combined rate at 9.45%, and is followed closely by Arkansas (9.19%) and Louisiana (8.89%)

However, it looks like we're number 1 in the nation when ranking states with the HIGHEST sales tax. According to the study, the five states with the highest average local sales tax rates are Louisiana (4.89 percent), Alabama (4.51 percent), Colorado (4.49 percent), New York (4.47 percent), and Oklahoma (4.22 percent).

Here's a map of how it all looks on a nation level If you want more on this study, head over to taxfoundation.org
