Lafayette Parish Public School officials say they are keeping an eye on this freezing weather. School system spokesperson Angela Morrison says Superintendent Dr. Pat Cooper, Assistant Superintendent Sandra Billeaudeau and others are monitoring the weather impact on Lafayette Parish schools and road conditions throughout Monday and the night.

Morrison says if they are advised by legal authorities of significant road closures and/or power outages, then they may close the entire district. For individual schools, she says the leadership group will keep an eye on any failing heating systems or breaking water pipes.

For now, all schools are scheduled to open for students Tuesday, January 7th at its regular time.
