#13 LSU entered Saturday's home contest versus #2 Georgia as a 7 point underdog and were coming off their first loss of the season.

In their most impressive performance of the Ed Orgeron era, the Tigers handled the Bulldogs for the majority of the game, winning 36-16.

"Tremendous statement for our guys who were hungry all week," said Orgeron to CBS sports moments after the win. "This was our best game, by far, of the year."

It was a complete performance for the Tigers, who got outstanding play in all 3 phases of the game.

LSU's defense held Georgia in check, limiting QB Jake Fromm to only 6.1 yards a completion and 1 late touchdown. The Tigers secondary picked off two of his passes.

The Tigers special teams sniffed out an early fake field goal attempt by Georgia, forced a fumble on a Bulldog kick return and kicker Cole Tracy was a perfect 5 for 5 on field goals.

Offensively, running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire paced LSU with 145 rushing yards, as the Tigers ran for 275 as a team.

Quarterback Joe Burrow rushed for 2 scores of his own, finishing with 200 yards passing and 66 yards rushing.

"Joe's tough. He's a leader," noted Orgeron. "Credit to the offensive line against a great defense...This was a tremendous team win."

With the victory, LSU improves to 6-1 on the season, 3-1 in SEC play. Georgia falls to 6-1, and 4-1 in conference play.

Next up, the Tigers remain at home for a matchup with #24 Mississippi State next Saturday night. Kickoff is set for 6:00.
