LSU kicker and New Iberia native Colby Delahoussaye was a backseat passenger in a tragic car accident in Wisconsin last night.

Delahoussaye survived the accident. Sadly, two others did not.

Nebraska punter Sam Foltz and former Michigan State punter Mike Sadler died as a result of the crash, according to a statement from the Waukesha County Sheriff's Department.

All 3 were in Wisconsin attending a kicking camp.

Delahoussaye was reportedly treated for minor injuries, including burns, at a nearby hospital.

According to the Lincoln Journal Star, the three players were traveling in a Mercedes-Benz Sedan. The vehicle crashed into a tree following a loss of control on the wet pavement of Beaver Lake Road. Waukesha County Sheriff's Department stated speed as a factor in the accident.

After crashing into a tree, the vehicle caught fire.

"Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families of Sam Foltz and Mike Sadler. We grieve for them. This isn't supposed to happen to young people who have so much to live for," said LSU head coach Les Miles in a statement. "We are so thankful that Colby will be able to return home to his family and friends."

Delahoussaye enters his senior season with a good opportunity to earn the starting placekicker duties he held in 2013 and 2014. Last season, Delahoussaye lost his starting job to Trent Domingue, who recently transferred to Texas after LSU did not renew his scholarship.

In 4 years at Michigan State, Mike Sadler became the first 4-time Academic All-American in school history, earning the the BIG Medal of Honor for his achivements in the classroom.

Foltz was set to enter his senior season for the Cornhuskers coming off a junior season when he earned first-team All Big 12 honors. Several weeks ago it was announced Foltz landed on the Ray Guy Award Watch List, giving to the nation's best punter.

Our thoughts, prayers and condolences go out to the family and friends of Sadler and Foltz.
