You don't really think about all the science that went into the breakfast your eating. Most of us think that farmers raise hens, hens lay eggs. Farmers raise pigs, pigs are used to make bacon. Farmers grow wheat, wheat is used to make bread. It really isn't that simple.

The American Farmer with help from researchers in the scientific community now feeds more people per acre than ever before. Schools like LSU are making sure that the farmers of tomorrow will be able to feed even more people more economically and provide safer, healthier food choices while doing so.

LSU just recently opened a new 14 million dollar state of the art research facility that is among the first of its kind in the world. This research facility will combine, animal, agriculture, and veterinary sciences in one place.  LSU Ag Center Associate Vice Chancellor Phil Elzer told the Louisiana Radio Network about the new facility.

"We can train the future scientist for Louisiana and also for agricultural throughout the United States." "Having a new facility like this, with all of the new equipment, we will now be very competitive for national and international grants."

It is expected that this new facility housed in a 49 hundred square foot two story building on the LSU campus will attract the best and brightest minds from around the country and around the world to the Baton Rouge Campus.  The facility boast state of the art equipment and over 3 million dollars in new equipment.
