LSU Suffers Another Heartbreaking Loss To Alabama

LSU fans were subjected to an all-too-familiar site on Saturday night: a devastating loss to Alabama after they thought the game was in the bag.

When Colby Delahoussaye split the uprights to give LSU the 13-10 lead with less than a minute left to play, Death Valley went nuts...but stomachs were still churning, and for good reason. Blake Sims and the Alabama offense took to the sidelines to work the clock and forced overtime with a FG to tie it up with only seconds remaining. It went to overtime. Alabama scored. LSU didn't. Cue the devastation.

The Tiger faithful had to watch, mouths agape, as they watched Nick Saban and Alabama rip their hearts out again. The social media banter started rolling in postgame about Les Miles and the team's failure to finish, but the LSU Coach wasn't going to shake off how badly the loss hurt.

"This game leaves a bad taste in my mouth," Miles said after the game, which was most likely the same flavor swirling around the palettes of the Tiger faithful as well.

What makes the aftertaste so sour is the missed opportunities. An Alabama fumble in the 4th quarter gave LSU a chance to go up by a TD on a short field, but an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty pushed the drive back and it stalled for a FG. Dumb penalties and clock management are some of LSU's critics favorite topics, and the internet was full of familiar jabs after the Tigers let another win slip through their fingers against their fierce rivals.

Compound the ending of the game with a few moments of pure frustration (two separate Trey Quinn drops) with the fans' want for a pass interference penalty on the final play f overtime, and the result is a soup of unbridled frustration and unfocused anger.

Les Miles shouldn't be fired because of a 20-13 overtime loss to Alabama, but that doesn't mean the loss hurts any less. When it's LSU and Alabama, it's always a fight, and somebody always gets hurt. Unfortunately for LSU and their faithful this weekend, their side of it requires some emotional rehab.
