While we were all thinking Cotton Bowl, the matchmakers in the mythical land where college football bowl games are created had something different in mind. The LSU Tigers will not be heading to Dallas for the Cotton Bowl. Instead Tiger fans will have a much warmer destination for January 1st, Tampa Florida.

The Tigers will meet the Iowa Hawkeyes out of the Big Ten Conference in the Outback Bowl. LSU has not played in the Outback Bowl since 1989 when they fell to Syracuse by a score of 23-10. The Tigers will start Anthony Jennings at quarterback in place of the injured Zach Mettenberger. According to sources close to the team do not look for major changes in the offensive scheme with Jennings at the helm.

The game will be played at Raymond James Stadium, home of the NFL's Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Kick-off is set for Noon central time on New Year's Day.
