After winning two games each on Thursday and Friday, the Lady Bengals advanced directly to Saturday's championship game. Owens meanwhile had to defeat South Mountain 8-7 in nine innings and then Kankakee 13-2 for the right to play LSUE. The third game of the day proved to be too much for Owens.

Leading the way on the mound for the Lady Bengals in the championship game was Tina Schulz who pitched a six-hit shutout. Offensively, LSUE had good games from Haley McCall (3-4 HR 3RBIs), Karli Wainwright (3-5 RBI) and Teurlings Catholic's Ashley Taylor (2-4 2RBIs).

This was the second time LSUE made it to the NJCAA Division II World Series, having finished 5th two years ago. Amazingly this is only the 7th year of existence for the program.

The Lady Bengals finished the season 58-10.
