A guy named Jerry Kimball from Falls Park, South Dakota was walking his pet snake at a local park on April 1st and he let it slither into the grass.

Odd enough, but nothing wrong with that, right?

Wrong! (Oh, and this is no April Fool's joke.)

An animal control officer spotted Jerry and his rogue snake and gave him a $190 ticket for not having it on a leash.

He thought it was ridiculous because, you know, they don't exactly make leashes for snakes. But the animal control department stuck to their guns and is standing by their ticket.

They say no animal can be "running at large", whether it's a dog, a chicken, or a snake.

Remind me never to walk my pet nutria rat without a leash in South Dakota.
