Update: The 18-year-old male who was found shot in the street has died from his injuries.

Cpl. Mouton says they are withholding his identity pending notification of next of kin.

"Detectives stated that a police K-9 was able to track the path of the suspect as he fled the scene to a residence in the 300 block of Ransom," says Mouton. "They were able to collect evidence at that location."

Police continue to investigate.

A shooting at the intersection of 8th Street and Sterling Street has left an 18-year-old male in the hospital and Lafayette Police officers searching for who did it.

LPD PIO Cpl. Paul Mouton says officers responded to the scene around 10:45 a.m. on Wednesday and found the victim lying in the street. He's listed in critical condition.
