A rough season for the New Orleans Saints just got even worse. Workhorse Running Back Mark Ingram is out for the season with a shoulder injury.

Right when it looked like he was poised for a 1,000 yard rushing season, his shoulder takes a beating and he is placed on the injured reserve. Typically an angry runner, Ingram was one of the few bright spots on a Saints squad that has generally depressed Who Dat Nation all year long. Without him, Brees said the other guys (CJ Spiller, Tim Hightower, Marcus Murphy) will fill other roles...but they can't really take his place.

"You hate to lose guys like that who mean so much to your offense," Brees told media today. He also said, "[I] really feel like Mark Ingram has come into his own...I don't know if there is a guy that is more liked in the locker room."

It takes some attitude off the offense and some teeth out of the bite of the rushing attack. Fans wanted to see more CJ Spiller, and now they will get a heavy dose of him. Hightower and Murphy will be peppered in to keep the legs fresh, but who is going to dish out the punishment Ingram used to provide?

With a 4-8 record on the season, this feels like the Saints are getting kicked while they're already down.

The offensive load will most likely get dumped on the shoulders of Drew Brees and the passing game to make up for the lack of a between the tackles running game. Prepare yourself for an air raid, and say goodbye to the most bruising back on the Saints roster for the rest of the season.
