32-year-old Jonathan Strandridge of Maurice is in critical condition after getting hit by a pickup truck Monday morning while working in the 4700 block of Landry Road, near its intersection of S. Fieldspan Road.

Captain Kip Judice with the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office says Strandridge, who works for Gulfgate Contractors, had just finished trenching an area off of Landry Road when a truck driven by 90-year-old Ralph Hogan hit him, pinning him between his truck and the trailer Strandridge was standing in back of. Standridge was securing the ramps for loading an excavator onto the trailer.

Hogan says the sun blinded him temporarily before the crash as he turned onto Landry Road from Fieldspan Road. He did not suffer any injuries from the crash.

Deputies continue to investigate, but so far no citations have been issued. Routine toxicology tests are pending.
