With the 42nd pick overall in the 2nd round, the New Orleans Saints had options in what coach Sean Payton considers one of the deepest drafts he's been a part of.

With several defensive ends on the board, the Saints went safety in the 2nd round for the second year in a row.

Marcus Williams out of Utah is the newest member of the Saints.

"I’m that guy that wants to take the ball away regardless of where I’m at," said Williams on his first media conference call after being selected.

The free safety is confident in his skill set.

According to Pro Football Focus, he registered the highest run-stop percentage among all safeties at the FBS level in 2016.

A sound tackler, Williams grades out as a solid run defender.

He joins a group of highly drafted safeties on the Saints roster. Kenny Vaccaro was the team's first round selection in 2013 (15th overall), while Vonn Bell was taken in the 2nd round last year at 61st overall.

Williams was overly aggressive at times with the Utes, getting caught in play action from time to time.

New Orleans defensive coordinator Dennis Allen uses 3 safety formations on defense often, making the selection of Williams not much of a surprise.
