Hopefully the "curse" of the building that occupies the intersection of Johnston St and Doucet Rd in Lafayette is broken when Mellow Mushroom opens its doors on Monday, July 21st at 11am.

Owner and operations manager Billy Maisano is even having a little fun with the so-called hex on the building.

"For those people that are superstitious we chose to have a witch doctor or family come out and cleanse a place or we had a priest come out and possibly a rabbi as well," said Maisano.

Maisano went on to say that consistency is the key to really making this restaurant work in Lafayette.

The Mellow Mushroom is a pizza restaurant that specializes in classic southern pizza, born out of the hippie culture in the 1970s. The first restaurant was started in Atlanta, Georgia and has spread to locations throughout the south. There are three other locations in Louisiana: Covington, Baton Rouge and New Orleans.
