Another local Acadiana restaurant is closing its doors.

Midway on the Square's final day open will be New Year's Eve. Restaurant management posted the following on their Facebook page:

Located on Magdalen Square in Abbeville, the 100+-year-old building that houses Midway on the Square started out as a restaurant: "The Midway". The Midway was the happening place in Downtown Abbeville.

The building's next tenant was the El Camino restaurant. After El Camino was moved to the By-pass, the building sat idle for more than 13 years before it was purchased, refurbished, and opened as "Midway on the Square", its name giving a nod to the original tenant.

It's sad to see another local restaurant going away.
