For the LSU Tigers football team the "real" season starts Saturday night at 6 PM at Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge. That is when LSU will open Southeastern Conference play. The opponent for the Tigers will be Mississippi State, a school the Tigers have handled more times than not over the past few decades.

While history seems to favor LSU the struggles of the Tiger offense as of late have many of the LSU faithful looking for answers at the quarterback position. Head Coach Les Miles said earlier in the week that a starting quarterback would not be named until much closer to game time on Saturday.  This was after signal caller Brandon Harris was benched in favor of Danny Etling after just two offensive series on the Tigers' contest last Saturday.

Coach Miles in his weekly teleconference with the media suggested yesterday that maybe the Tigers have made up their mind on who will be running the offense when the Bulldogs come to town on Saturday night.

I can't imagine that Danny Etling would not take the first snaps but we're going to let the week play out if you don't mind.

While Etling did have more success at the quarterback position last Saturday night against Jacksonville State than Harris did. Etling did not set the world on fire with his performance. He did lead the Tiger offense down the field to a score in the 2nd quarter which was much more than Harris had been able over the course of the Wisconsin game and the first two series of last Saturday's contest.

Another major piece of the LSU offense is expected to be ready to play on Saturday. That piece is running back Leonard Fournette.

His health continues to get better and we really want to wait until he's 100% and he's really closing in on that right now.

Fournette sat out because of an ankle injury this past Saturday.

Game time for LSU and Mississippi State is set for 6 PM. Las Vegas odds makers opened the game as a "pick 'em" but the line has moved in favor of LSU. The Tigers are now a two touchdown favorite at many of the sports books.  If you can't make it to Tiger Stadium the game will be televised nationally on ESPN 2.
