Ex-New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin sentenced to 10 years in prison for bribery, money laundering.

Nagin will serve the time after his convictions on charges of bribery, money laundering and other crimes.

Nagin was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Helen Berrigan Wednesday morning.

He was was convicted on Feb. 12 of accepting hundreds of thousands of dollars from businessmen who wanted work from the city or Nagin's support for projects — both before and after Hurricane Katrina. The bribes came in the form of money, free vacation trips and truckloads of free granite for the mayor's family business.

The 58-year-old Democrat defiantly denied any wrongdoing at his trial.
