The drama seems to be mounting on ‘Nashville,’ with news that Kimberly WIlliams-Paisley will reprise her role as the devious Peggy Samper for at least three of the final nine episodes of the ABC series’ first season.

According to Deadline, the veteran actress (and wife of country superstar Brad Paisley) also has an option to become a series regular leading into the second season of the show, given the network’s approval to film episodes for the 2013 television season. ABC just recently ordered a full season of the hour-long drama.

Paisley made her ‘Nashville’ debut in October as Samper, the former co-worker and former love interest of Teddy Conrad, who is portrayed by actor Eric Close. The elephant in the room is that Conrad is currently married to Rayna James, the series’ lead who is hoping to rejuvenate her faltering country music career.

“I’m there to cause trouble — I think there’s no question about that — and not intentionally,” Paisley tells ‘Access Hollywood’ of her character’s moral discrepancies. “I think Peggy’s made some bad decisions and that’s gonna cause some trouble.”

Williams-Paisley may be stirring the pot on the fictitious Music Row, but real life country superstar Carrie Underwood assures the show’s legions of fans that the music community in Nashville is not quite as scandalous as the series lets on.

“I hope people don’t think it’s all backstabbing and everybody sleeping with everybody else. That’s really not [the case], at least to my knowledge,” the soft-spoken country superstar reveals. “There might be all kinds of stuff going on that I don’t know about, but not in my world. People really are pretty open and friendly and normal.”

Adds Underwood with a laugh, “I hope they don’t think all the ladies of country music are that scandalous, because I promise you, we’re not.”

‘Nashville’ airs Wednesday evenings on ABC. Tune in to watch all the drama unfold!
