Swamp Pop has kind of been Acadiana's little musical secret for decades. We don't normally think about the fact that other people outside of South Louisiana, for the most part, don't know what it is. Warren Storm, Rod Bernard, Johnnie Allan, The Boogie Kings, Tommy Mclain, T K Hulin...the list could go on and on naming our incredible Swamp Pop musicians. Lately, I've been noticing a trend coming out of Nashville, and that trend is songs that sound very similar to Swamp Pop. Here are a few I've come across that sound to me like they could have written in Opelousas.

Swamp Pop is Rhythm and Blues, a lil Cajun, Country, Swing, Big Band and more all rolled into one. Keith Urban had a hit with "Blue Ain't Your Color" and he thought was merely playing a waltz. He didn't realize he was actually knee-deep in Swamp Pop gold.

Below are a few new Country songs that to me, sound like awesome Swamp Pop greatness...and I'm very much OK with that.
