Louisiana basketball coach Bob Marlin and the University of Louisiana have agreed to a new five year contract.

The new deal calls for the University to pay Marlin $180,000 annually, with the remainder of the five year, 2.5 million dollar deal from outside sources.

KATC's Travis Webb reported Marlin will receive $455,000 in the first year of the deal with $25,000 raises annually.  He will also be paid a $72,000 signing bonus.  Incentive bonuses are also part of the contract based on team performance, championships, personal awards and team academic performance.  The contract is pending UL system approval.

Marlin's Cajuns have won 45 games the last two seasons, including a trip to the 2013 NCAA Tournament and a quarterfinal appearance in the 2014 College Insider Tournament.  He also coached Orlando Magic guard Elfrid Payton, who was a top ten pick in the 2013 NBA draft.
