A two-vehicle crash on Highway 90 in New Iberia claimed the life of a New Iberia man Friday morning.

Master Trooper Brooks David reported the crash near Curtis Lane claimed the life of 37-year-old Roland Joseph of New Iberia.

Crash scene investigators determined Joseph was driving a pickup truck westbound on the south service road when he lost control of the vehicle. His truck spun into the Highway 90 eastbound lane and was then struck by another pickup driven by 52-year-old Durius Barras, also of New Iberia.

Joseph, who was not wearing a seat belt, was partially ejected from the vehicle. he was taken to Iberia General Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Barras, whi sustained severe injuries, was transported by helicopter to Lafayette General Medical Center.

It is not yet known if impairment was a factor in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
