New Iberia Shooting Leaves Man In Serious Condition

A 48-year-old man is in serious condition after a late night shooting in New Iberia.

Major Ryan Turner with the Iberia Parish Sheriff's office says it happened on Monday, just before midnight, in the 500 block of Walton Street. He says responding deputies found the victim with a gun shot wound to his stomach. He underwent surgery in a local hospital.

It's believed that a female suspect is the shooter. Major Turner says the victim told them he and the suspect got into an altercation just before she allegedly shot him. She then ran away in an unknown direction. The woman is described as a black female.
