The New Orleans Mayor's Office has confirmed that mosquitoes in Orleans Parish have tested positive for West Nile.

WAFB.com reports "Dr. Sarah Michaels with The New Orleans Mosquito, Termite and Rodent Control Board said that abatement procedures are underway, but residents need to take action themselves by emptying septic tanks and making sure there is no standing water on their property."

This will no doubt be an on-going story, and we'll keep you posted when new information becomes available. For more on this initial report, head over to WAFB.com.
