We all know the jewel that New Orleans is here in the south, but sometimes one wonders if the rest of the country really appreciates its uniqueness.

Apparently, readers of Travel and Leisure magazine do agree. They ranked the city as their second favorite city in America as part of a recent survey.

The city that topped the list of America's Favorite Cities was Norfolk, Virginia.

Readers call New Orleans colorful, friendly, and of course, delicious.

"There is no other city like New Orleans. So much history. A beautiful city. The people know how to make visitors feel welcomed," the magazine said.

The list was compiled by each city's total score. The survey asked readers to answer questions about their hometowns, including friendliness of locals and the most exciting places to eat and drink.
