The New Orleans Saints made a few moves yesterday including releasing defensive tackle Brodrick Bunkley after he failed a physical.

The team also placed receiver Marques Colston, safety Jairus Byrd and defensive tackle Glenn Foster on the physically unable to perform list. Cornerback Brian Dixon was placed on the non-football injury list.

Don't read too much into these PUP list players as those on the physically unable to perform list can return to action as soon as they are healthy.

As far as Bunkley goes, he was sidelined with an undisclosed injury throughout the offseason program.

His release will cost the team in dead money over the next two years. There is a salary-cap hit of $3.475 million due to previous bonuses already paid out that prorate over the life of the contract. The team can split the payments over two years and receive a $1.3 million salary-cap deduction this season.

The New Orleans Saints officially open training camp on Thursday, July 30th in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia.
