The New Orleans Saints have traded receiver/returner Jalen Saunders to the New England Patriots for a conditional draft pick.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter the draft pick will depend on Saunders' performance in 2015.

Saunders had been competing against rookie 7th round draft pick Marcus Murphy to be the Saints return specialist. However, Saints head coach Sean Payton said after Sunday's game that Murphy would be on the roster in some capacity, making it tougher for Saunders to win a roster spot.

Saunders was picked up late in the season last year after getting cut from the New York Jets and got off to a bang with his new team. He returned his first kickoff with the Saints 99 yards to the 1-yard line on December 21, 2014.

But, Saunders battled injuries in camp this year and fell behind Murphy.
