If you believe the results of a new poll a majority of our state's residents feel that Louisiana is not moving in the right direction.  The biggest issue for of our state's residents is education.

Given the on going battle over common core statewide and our own local school board issues it's no wonder so many of us feel the state is spinning its wheels when it comes to forward momentum.

The poll that was conducted and released by the University of New Orleans Survey Research Center surveyed 600 Louisiana residents on a variety of topics. Over half, 52% of those surveyed, said they felt the state was heading in the wrong direction. According to Ed Chervenak this feeling was prevalent across gender, racial, and political party lines.

"It's across the board.  Regardless if you are a Democrat, Republican, black, white, male, female, you're unhappy with the direction of the state."

When respondents were given a free question to address what they felt the biggest problem in the state was, education topped the list.

"They didn't make a distinction, say, between public education or higher education.  The only distinction some people made was with Common Core."

Chervenak's comments were reported by the Louisiana Radio Network.

As you might imagine Governor Bobby Jindal did not fare well in this survey either. According to Chervenak 53% of respondents disapproved of what Governor Jindal is doing.

"They surely disagree with him traveling around the country to build up his national reputation, his national campaign."

It is believed by most political pundits that the November 4th election will illustrate the dissatisfaction residents have with the direction of the state. Many suggest that incumbents could have a tough time holding on to their jobs just based on the general mood of the state's residents.
