New UL Student Union Opens Doors

Well, you've been waiting for it, and now you can go visit it - the brand spanking new Student Union at 620 McKinley St, on the campus of University of Louisiana Lafayette! The new Union will be known as 'the U', and folks got a peek at the new digs on Friday, with a ribbon cutting ceremony and dedication of the Helma B. Constantine Forum, which is on the second floor.

On Saturday, a Zydeco brunch was held, with music by local favorite Corey Ledet and his Zydeco Band.

According to the folks at UL, a Zydeco brunch is scheduled for each of the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns’ home football games this fall. Diners can park on campus, then catch a shuttle to and from Cajun Field.' That is awesome news!

The new union expanded by 30,000 square feet, and cost around $36 million dollars, and was paid for by an increase of student fees. The Quad on campus has also been refreshed, and students and visitors alike will be able to enjoy the new Louisiana Welcome Wall. Always happy to see progress on our beautiful campus!
