Speeds of over 200 miles per hour through the streets of suburban New Orleans? No this isn't a scene from a Hollywood blockbuster filmed in the "Big Easy", this big time racing now confirmed for NOLA Motorsports Park in Avondale.

Governor Bobby Jindal confirmed the announcement yesterday that the New Orleans area would be hosting an Indy Car race in 2015.

The race will be held at NOLA Motorsports  Park in Avondale. The park features a 2.75 mile road course that has already been home to events in other forms of racing, including AMA motorcycles and other series of open wheel racing. The announcement on Sunday will put New Orleans on the  motorsports map.

No official date has been announced for the race. It is speculated that track owners and race organizers are hoping for a June event. However that is subject to other events and commitments the racing series has with other venues already under contract.
