It took almost 4 days, but flood waters receded- allowing Department of Transportation officials to re-open both travel lanes of I-10 late Friday. State Police had said that the days of flooding left damage to the roadways that was repaired when the water went down.

The only closure that remains at this point is a rest area in Orange, TX. However, this is not flooding-related. TxDOT officials had closed it last year for construction and renovations.

Lake Charles television station KPLC covered the re-opening, which was welcome relief for drivers between Texas and Louisiana.

Lanes had been intermittently closed early in the week as water from the Sabine River inched up to the travel lanes of I-10. TxDOT and DOTD officials made the decision to completely close the interstate on Tuesday Morning.
