Law enforcement officials always tell citizens to designate a driver.

This weekend, Lafayette Police will be out in full force looking for impaired drivers.

Corporal Paul Mouton says there will be an OWI checkpoint somewhere within the incorporated limits of Lafayette this Saturday, August 24.

The checkpoint will start at 9 p.m. and go through 3 o'clock Sunday morning.

Officers say they will respond with zero tolerance to any drivers under the influence of alcohol or any other dangerous substances.

Police say not having a designated a driver could result in costly fines and serious jail time.
