“Porn camp” may sound like someplace aspiring adult film stars go to learn the trade but for a group of teenaged boys, it’s actually a lot less fun — it’s a place to ditch a porn addiction.

Oxbow Academy in Wales, Utah is a rehab facility dedicated to teenage boys who have exhibited “sexual behavioral issues,” including an addiction to online porn. Residents (inmates?) sleep in military-style housing, and spend most of their time in therapy, doing chores, and attending classes at the on-site high school. Needless to say, there’s a phone and internet ban, and the only sites the school computers can access are online encyclopedias.

For all this, parents shell out a whopping $9,000 a month — but it sounds like the boys apparently really need the intensive program. Stephen Schultz, Oxbow Academy’s director, says some of them were like substance-abusers going through withdrawal when they arrived.

“One boy from Chicago actually got the shakes, like a drug user,” Schultz said. “He’d been on his computer 10 to 12 hours a day looking at porn. He wasn’t eating, he was dehydrated, had poor hygiene. He’d done nothing but watch porn.”

Oh, thank god. We thought we had a problem but we are only surfing porn for 11 and a half hours a day. The other half hour we spend reading Penthouse.
