Tonight's the night that someone's life could change forever. The multi-state Powerball's jackpot has hit a record $500 million!

On Saturday night the prize was at $325 million, which was the fourth-largest in Powerball history. It was the 15th consecutive drawing where no one claimed the top prize.

The previous high mark dished out was $365 million in 2006 when a group of eight co-workers at a Nebraska meat-packing plant won big.

The Powerball is held in 42 states, the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The prize is still short of the U.S. lottery record. In March, the Mega Millions jackpot paid out $656 million to three winners.

Officials with the lottery say that the chance that at least one person scores the jackpot tonight is about 60%.

It's about time someone from Louisiana wins, right? Good luck! (And don't forget your friends when you win!!)

UPDATE: The Powerball jackpot is now up to an estimated $550 million! Woop!
