In light of Halloween, I thought that it would be appropriate to share my pumpkin carving adventure with you! My sister and her little girl got to work last night carving a pumpkin like pros! My niece chose to go with one of the traditional patterns for her pumpkin and her momma got to work making that happen.

My sister drew her design and got to work. Growing up, we always used a kitchen knife to carve our pumpkins. However, we found some pretty cool carving tools at Wal Mart that worked pretty well. They looked almost toy tools, but they really do work and they come in handy!

Before we knew it, the pumpkin was done! And I think it came out pretty great.

Here are a few tips for when you carve your pumpkin. First, always take precautions and be careful when cutting out the top of the pumpkin. You may need a large knife so keep the kids from touching it or putting their hands and fingers in the way. Second, if you are like me, you love the seeds! When you get all the seeds and insides out of the pumpkin, wash the seeds off and pop them in the oven for a few minutes. They make a great snake. Last but not least, if you put a candle inside your pumpkin at night, don't forget to blow it out before you leave the house or go to sleep. The last thing anyone wants is a fire accident.

Oh, and what would pumpkin carving be without a black cat?! Everyone meet Sebastian!
