Pumpkin spice, they are the two words that every woman that I know loves to say this time of year. I don't know whether it's the weather or the flavor that makes pumpkin spice the talk of town but I do know the ladies love it. I personally don't care for pumpkins. I don't like pumpkin pie. I hate carving a Jack O' Lantern. I hate the way rotting pumpkins smell when I have to hall them to garbage the day after Halloween.

So, why the big deal over pumpkin spice? It might be because it's like eggnog, only around for a limited time that makes it so special. I know the coffee houses around the area are selling a pumpkin spice something or other about every third drink it seems. The Coffee Mate people have their own brand of pumpkin spice creamer you can add to your own cup of coffee too.

Pumpkin spice is essentially cinnamon, ginger, allspice, nutmeg and a sweetener. You have to be careful because nutmeg can kill you. So can a pumpkin spice latte at Starbucks, it's got about 380 calories. While you might be plunking down four or five bucks for professionally made pumpkin spice latte, you can make your own for a lot less.

I believe there are better ways to enjoy coffee. If you've never tried Vietnamese Coffee it is really a trip but be ready for a sugar buzz  that is going to last a while. That buzz might actually last longer than pumpkin spice will be available in your stores and restaurants so drink up now. You can always walk off the excess weight in the spring.
