All season long the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns have been looking for the timely hit.

Friday night, they got two.

Freshman Tremaine Spears singled home the tying run in the eighth inning and Handsome Monica's two out single in the ninth drove home the game winner as Louisiana defeated Troy 6-5 before 1,745 at Riddle-Pace Field in Troy, AL.

Dylan Moore retired the Trojans in the ninth for his fifth save and became the all-time saves leader in Sun Belt history with his 32nd career save, passing Florida Atlantic's Hugh Adams.

Kennon Fontenot walked with one out in the ninth and after Brenn Conrad grounded out, Monica drilled a pitch off Marc Skinner (1-2) into the right center field gap to score Fontenot with what proved to be the winning run.

Troy led 5-4 going into the eighth, but Hunter Kasuls got the second of his three hits with one out.  Joe Robbins walked with two out and Spears got his first career RBI with a single up the middle to plate Kasuls, setting the stage for the ninth.

Wyatt Marks (1-0) pitched three dominant innings, allowing just one hit with three strikeouts.  He faced the minimum in his three innings of work.

The Cajuns (12-8, 3-1 Sun Belt) jumped on starter Daren Osby in the third inning when Ishmael Edwards doubled and was sacrificed to third.  Todd Lott struck out, but Alex Pinero delivered Edwards with a sharp single to right to get the Cajuns on the board.  Steven Sensley followed with a base hit and Kennon Fontenot then doubled in the gap to score both runners to make it 3-0.  Conrad then singled  home the fourth run of the inning.

But the Trojans (12-9 2-2) came back against Cajuns' starter Gunner Leger when Steven Whitaker led off the third with a base hit.  Drew Frederick grounded out and Matt Sanders reached on an error.  Brandon Lockridge singled home a run and Trevor Davis singled. A wild pitch brought in the second run and Joey Denison's two run single with two outs tied the game.

Troy took a 5-4 lead in the fourth on Davis' RBI single and the lead held until the eighth inning when Spears came through with the clutch RBI.
