Many retailers are basking in the glow of colder temperatures this weekend. The colder weather seems to bring out the holiday spirit in shoppers and that means less red and more black for the bottom line.

That's the good news. The not so good news is that milder and wet weather will return to much of the state Monday. Forecasters believe that the temperature will be in the 70's each afternoon for the early part of the work week. There also appears to be a threat of rain in the forecast for each day as well.

A cold front will drop temperatures back into the seasonable range late in the week but that return to cooler weather will be accompanied by a threat of rain and thunderstorms. It's too early to tell whether or not there will be a severe weather outbreak associated with those storms.

If you're wondering about a long range look into the kind of weather travelers will have over Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. The 14-day outlook is suggesting that the holiday weekend will be rain free with comfortable temperatures in the afternoon and cozy cool temperatures in the evening.
