Hopefully everyone got their outside chores handled yesterday. I trust the football games you attended both Friday and Saturday were to your liking. Today is going to be a day of inside activity, at least if you can believe the live radar scan from the National Weather Service in Lake Charles.

In scientific terms our forecast for the next several days will be influenced by a unique set up of low pressure systems. Some of them are at the surface while another is in the upper atmosphere. If you add this instability to a warm moist body of water you're going to a large amount of convection. That's the pseudo-scientific explanation. In real people terms, it's gonna rain.

It doesn't look at this time as if there will be flooding rains associated with this current weather scenario at least for today. As we move through time and the affects of a tropical system that is expected to meander north from the Yucatan influences our weather those rainfall amounts could be significantly higher.

Right now the general consensus is that some areas would see about an inch of rain today. There could be an additional two to three inches of rain especially over the Atchafalaya Basin and points east by the time this weather system clears the area on Tuesday.
