A new list has been published regarding the top public high schools in every state.The list was compiled by Niche, a content start-up that gathers data about educational institutions across the country.

All told, some 14,431 high schools were ranked nationally on dozens of key statistics and 4.6 million opinions from 280,000 students and parents.

A high ranking indicates that the school is an exceptional academic institution with a diverse set of high-achieving students who rate their experience very highly.

Here is how the top-ranking Acadiana schools came out in the Louisiana rankings:

22. Erath High School (Erath)

Erath High received an A- for its academics, a B+ for teachers, B grades for facilities, extracurricular activities and sports, and C+ grades for health and safety, and diversity.

24. North Vermilion (Maurice)

Erath High received an A- for its academics, a B+ for teachers, B grades for facilities, extracurricular activities and sports, and C+ grades for health and safety, and diversity.

37. Lafayette High School (Lafayette)

Lafayette High received an A- for academics and diversity. It received a B for extracurricular activities, a B- for teachers, C+ for facilities and sports, and a C for safety. In addition, the school received a score of 3.8 out of 5 based on 37 parent and student surveys on their experience with the school.

40. Mamou High School (Mamou)

Mamou High received B+ grades for academics, health and safety and diversity. It received B- grades for teachers and facilities.

65. Abbeville High School (Abbeville)

Abbeville High received an A for teachers, B’s for academics and facilities, B- for sports, extracurricular activities and teachers, and a C- for health and safety. It also received a score of 4.1 out of 5 based on seven survey responses from parents and students about their experience with the school.

67. Loreauville High School (Loreauville)

Loreauville High received a B+ for academics and diversity, a B for teachers, a B- for extracurricular activities, a C+ for health and safety and a C for facilities.

69. Gueydan High School (Gueydan)

Gueydan High received a B for academics, teachers and facilities; B- for health and safety, and diversity; and a C+ for sports.

90. Port Barre High School (Port Barre)

Port Barre High received an A for diversity, a B for academics and facilities, a C+ for sports, teachers and health and safety; and a C for extracurricular activities.
